A Christmas Carol Play at the Alberta Bair Theater

Part of the cultural scene of Billings for an impressive eighty years now, the Alberta Bair Theater is an integral part of the community and host to incredible performances all year round. Opened in 1931 under the name of ‘The Fox Theater,’ when it was the largest art deco styled theater built by Twentieth Century Fox Corporation in the whole of the United States, today the theater retains its original charm and some of those stunning period features to continue to provide a range of entertainment for all the family.  While staying at a hotel near Alberta Bair Theater, make sure to attend this year’s Christmas Carol performance.

A tradition at Christmas for many people, portrayals of ‘A Christmas Carol’ are something that the whole family can look forward to. Popularized in film and television in an enormous range of incarnations, seeing the show on stage for a live performance is like no other version. Charles Dickens’ tale from 1843 is a heart-warming story of the triumph of brotherhood, learning from past mistakes and of being selfless even in adversity.  Perhaps one of the most well-known festive stories of all time, it’s a hit which everyone can enjoy. Toured by the Nebraska Theater Caravan, who have been taking this Christmas tale to theaters for more than thirty years, the show seamlessly weaves beloved carols into the narrative to create the perfect seasonal show. A cast of 28 brings the whole tale to life in inimitable style.

Taking place on December 19th at the Alberta Bair Theater, the curtain opens at 7:30pm for an evening of excellent holiday entertainment. In addition, a pre-performance workshop will be taking place from 5:30pm-7pm at the Moss Mansion to explore the background to the tale, explaining just why Scrooge was so miserly and anti-Christmas in the context of Victorian England. A shuttle bus service will connect the Moss Mansion workshop with the Theater for a small fee.
