Ice Skating and the Yosemite Art Museum in Billing, Montana!
Billings, Montana is a great place to spend the holidays, with snow, mountains and lush forests. There are also lots of events going on to get one in the holiday mood, such as the “Christmas Gala on Ice.” After the holidays are over, check out the Yellowstone Art Museum to learn something new about art and culture!
Christmas Gala on Ice, December 22, 7:30pm
Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano and US Champion Michael Weiss will perform at Rimrock Auto Arena in spectacular ice skating show. Nine amateur skaters will be performing, including Steven Cousins, Ilia Kulik, Caryn Kadavy, Kimmie Meissner and Felicia Beck. The skaters were chosen from skating clubs across Montana and Wyoming. Steven Cousins choreographed a group number that all nine skaters will participate in. This is a rare opportunity to see Montana’s finest skaters in a creative and artistic performance that will be remembered for years. Tickets are $22-$125 with Family Four packs discounted $5-$10.
Yellowstone Art Museum
The Yellowstone Art Museum has many enriching events in January to inspire the public with arts appreciation. On January 13, at 7pm, the museum will screen Suicide Prevention, a community based media project that unites art, medicine and social issues. On January 20th at 7pm, the museum will host an introduction to Syrian culture with Dr. Tayeb Al-Hafez. Al-Hafez is an artist who will educate the public on Syria’s rich culture. The lecture is free to members and included in museum admission.
Until December 31, 2011, visitors can view the Pulitzer Prize photographs exhibit. This showcase includes all of the Pulitzer Prize-winning photographs since the inception of the prize in 1942. These photographs some of the most crucial and emotional moments in the last 75 years.
The museum is also showcasing work from Montana and Wyoming artists Molly Murphy and Neltje. The exhibits display art, crafts and entrepreneurial spirit. The Yellowstone Art Museum exhibits art with an emphasis on its home in Montana for the inspiration of the public.
