Witness the Creativity of Billings at One Act Theatre!
Venture out to see the creative side of Billings, Montana at the 17th Annual One Act Festival. It celebrates writers and plays on two consecutive weekends in February at the Venture Theatre. This year’s selections are D.R.E.A.M. Inc. by Ryan Gage, Brett & Eric Meet the CIIA by Shad Scott and Almost Christmas by Arthur Jolly. Staged readings have also been selected to be performed on a smaller scale. Seated readings of Grand New Year by Amber Sommerfeld, Moth by Stephen Seder, Inhuman rEsources by Travis Bierwagon and Art Initiates Life by Connie Dillion will also be put together at dark later evenings.
D.R.E.A.M. Inc. is the story of a man named Jeremy that has frequent dreams during the day and night. He seeks help from a doctor who specializes in dream therapy and erasing dreams. Jeremy eventually has to make a choice to cope with his dreams or take a chance on the doctor’s eccentric methods. Brett & Eric Meet the CIIA follows roommates Eric and Brett. Eric breaks the Internet, and a CIIA agent appears to help them fix it against all odds. Finally, Almost Christmas is a unique holiday story about a crusty drunk, bitter waitress and the new and young owner of a bar. They bond while unearthing hidden secrets while waiting for a post midnight Christmas party.
Staged Readings will be directed by Craig Huisenga. Trade Mistakes is about a man’s decision to choose career over visiting his sick mother. Too Big For Words is about a family that strives to stay together despite circumstances pulling them apart. Nate Staley Has a Date is about a boy who hires a young prostitute to be his date for prom.
